Printing and Artwork
Rotogravure, printing on woven PP, IML and screen printing, plus the requirements for artwork that is ready for cylinder engraving.
| Technique | Where it is used | What it offers |
|---|---|---|
| Rotogravure on film | Laminated pouches and rollstock: reverse-printed PET, BOPP, MOPE or BOPA. | High definition and consistent solid colors from the first to the last meter of the run; precise ink-to-ink registration; the print is protected between layers. Supports white backing, metallic inks, registered matte varnish and ink-free window areas. Each color requires an engraved cylinder, which is kept for repeat orders. |
| Direct printing on woven PP | Plain woven PP bags (unlaminated fabric). | Up to 4 colors printed directly on the fabric; suitable for logos, text and line artwork. Definition is lower than on film and registration depends on the weave. |
| Rotogravure on BOPP for laminated woven bags | Laminated woven PP bags: BOPP/WOVEN PP, BOPP/BOPP/WOVEN PP, BOPP/COEX/WOVEN PP/PE LINER. | The BOPP film is reverse-printed in rotogravure and then laminated to the fabric: photographs, gradients and brand colors with the same quality as a pouch, on a 10–25 kg (22–55 lb) bag. Gloss or matte finish. |
| IML (In-Mold Labeling) | Squeeze tubes and PP plastic containers. | The printed label is fused into the mold as the container is formed: photographic quality, does not peel or scratch, resistant to moisture and grease. |
| Screen printing | Squeeze tubes, tins and jars. | Solid, opaque inks applied directly to the container, one color at a time; suitable for logos, text and designs with few colors, with good durability. |
| Embossing and hot stamping | Premium boxes and cartons, by project. | Raised relief (emboss) and metallic or pigmented foil stamping to highlight brand and text; quoted per project. |
How to send your artwork.
- Send artwork as an editable vector file: Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or layered PDF, with all text converted to outlines so no font substitution can occur.
- Images and photographs must be embedded or attached at 300 dpi at actual print size and in CMYK; a screen-resolution image (72 dpi) will look pixelated on the package.
- Identify spot colors by their Pantone reference (solid C or U) and state which elements print in four-color process; brand colors are matched with spot inks.
- Place the design on the dieline we send you without modifying it: respect seal areas, die cuts, gussets, zipper and spout, and keep the dieline on a separate non-printing layer.
- Keep text and critical elements at least 3 mm (1/8 in) from seal edges and die cuts, and extend backgrounds 3 mm beyond the cut line (bleed).
- On rollstock, respect the position and size of the eye mark shown on the dieline and keep that strip free of artwork: the machine reads it to cut and seal in the right place.
- Barcodes must be vector, with clear quiet zones on both sides, in a dark color on a light background (never on metallized film without a white backing), and not reduced below what your barcode standard allows; verify the number is correct.
- Nutrition facts, warning labels and legal copy are the customer's responsibility: check that they comply with the regulation that applies to your product before approving.
- If the package has matte-to-register, a window or metallic inks, define those areas on separate layers with a reference color (for example MATTE, WINDOW, METALLIC).
- Before cylinders are engraved we send you a proof for review; written approval is what releases production. A change after engraving means new cylinders and additional lead time.
